Diving and Marine Conservation Trips to Belize
ReefCI offer diving and marine conservation trips to Belize with a difference. The trips are focused on the environment and also on the people that go on them. We accept small groups only and a variety of ages. The ReefCI customers so far have ranged from 18 years to 65 years!
‘Having already dived in other places throughout the world….diving with ReefCI on the Sapodilla Cayes is a whole new experience. I now have a totally new perspective of the reef environment and my diving has definitely changed for the better. Not only am I a better diver, I can now recognise fish, coral, invertebrates and other species that I was not aware of before. All of this combined with the island experience, the people I have met, the weekend parties and the jungle has made this a fantastic holiday….in fact, I just HAD to stay another week!!!! …..Robyn 20 years
The diving is structured but extremely relaxed and not regimented. It is safe, non challenging diving in the Caribbean which does not have strong currents and visibility ranges from 15-40 metres. There are rarely other divers in the area (we never have to share a site) and we often discover new dive sites. We also do pre-breakfast and night recreational dives which are both fantastic. The pre-breakfast dive is a great way to start the day and the night dives are amazing with loads of life. Lots of shrimps and prawns, octopus, huge groupers and free swimming moray eels, lobsters out of their holes, squid, crabs…...and the string of pearls during the lunar cycle…..a real favourite.
The week is spent diving at Franks Caye and the weekends at our base in Punta Gorda or at Cotton Tree Lodge or Hickatee Cottages.
A typical itinerary is as follows:
Monday – leave the mainland for Franks Caye and fun dives
Tuesday – Survey dives and fun dives
Wednesday – Survey dives and fun dives
Thursday – Survey dives
Friday – Fun dive, leave Franks Caye for Punta Gorda

We do pre-breakfast and night dives throughout the week.
ReefCI own a bar called Reef Bar where we have traditional local Garifuna band that plays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. It is great fun and our guests have jammed with the band and learned how to dance ‘punta’ style!!! A place with amazing views of the Caribbean where people can eat, drink and meet other travellers or locals or just chill out in a hammock and enjoy the cool breeze!
Saturdays and Sundays are spend either at Cotton Tree Lodge, Hickatee Cottages or chilling out by the pool at Coral House Inn (a local hideaway) or going on one of the many varieties of land based trips such as the Mayan ruin sites, waterfalls and Blue Creek caves.
This gives you the experience of local village life in Punta Gorda, the ‘real’ jungle together with the exclusive opportunity to stay on an idyllic private island with full amenities and meals provided…. a completely unique diving conservation holiday.
